The most enjoyable parts of any vacation for me is to go out in the evenings (or late afternoon if you have little ones like us).   I enjoy getting dressed up and going to a nice restaurant. I am not too keen on lunches; I am comfortable grabbing anything on the go, or even prep our lunches.  But for the evening, I like going out and having nice food and enjoy the environment and settings.  So while in Mont Tremblant, we had dinner on our first night at Restaurant Le Cheval de Jade.  It is a French restaurant in Mont Tremblant and a short 10 minute scenic drive away from the ski village. The meal was quite enjoyable and also expensive.  We ordered one appetizer, two main dishes, one dessert, and a glass of wine and the bill was $150 including all taxes and tips.   The restaurant decor was elegant with its white table cloth and sparkling glasses, and it has the perfect setting for special occasions.  One of the chef’s main dishes is the Bouillabaisse which is sort of a fish soup.  Unfortunately, we did not try this dish, but we went for other options instead. In addition, there were many many fish dishes to choose from and we were told that all fish were imported directly from France.  Dinner was delicious, and service was great as well – no wonder it is the top-rated restaurant in Mont Tremblant!  We look forward returning soon.

What I wore to Dinner

Before we get into the foods, here is what I wore to dinner. This AllSaints Dress is one of the two dresses that I packed for our trip, and I alternate between the two dresses through out our trip and they worked perfectly  and I was extremely comfortable.  As the evening was cool, I rolled down the long sleeves for extra coverage and warmth.  This dress is such an amazing piece and since owning it, I have worn it several times and still enjoying it .  I love that it is loose around the waist to allow room for extra eating.  Personally, it can be a challenge to find something nice to wear to dinner that will also allow you room for eating, and this dress does the trick.  Of course I dressed it up with my Gianvito Rossi Janis Low strap shoe and it looked and felt awesome.

Bread with Butter & Tomato Flavored Butter

Amuse Bouche

The Amuse Bouche was absolutely delicious.  It was a mango salsa with shrimp and topped with a cream.  The combination of flavours were very tasty, which left us wanting more.

Appetizer

Mediterranean fish soup, rouille, croutons, and grated cheese – this dish was just average and it had a creamy base, which is not particularly my favorite. Needless to say, my husband finished it.

Main Course

Halibut fillet, urchin and ‘Saffron des Neiges’ sauce – this Halibut was served with a cream sauce which was not my favorite.  However, my husband quite enjoyed it.  It was also served with wild rice and a spinach flan.

Fillet of Arctic Char, jus with garlic flower ‘La Fine fleur de la Tapani’ and white truffle oil – this dish was very tasty and I quite enjoyed it. I would order this dish again.  It was served with stuffed cabbage and wild rice.  The fish was not fishy and it was very close to a salmon texture and grilled to perfection.

Dessert

Crème Brûlée flavoured with geranium – the crème brûlée was delicious, but I wasn’t too keen on the added flavour.   But we still enjoyed it.
